Scheepjes - The After Party no.32 - Exclamation Shawl - Crochet Whirl

Description

Wrap yourself in stylish simplicity with the Exclamation Shawl, designed by Fiona Kelly.

This delicate, crochet shawl with a soft drape is lovely to wear during the in-between seasons. Made using a single cake of Scheepjes Whirl yarn in one colourway, this accessory will add a unique splash of colour to your outfit.

Each row of Tunisian crochet is made up of a forward pass, where loops are picked up and held on the Tunisian crochet hook, and a return pass (rp), where loops are removed until one loop remains on the hook. You do not turn the work at all, so you will be working from the right side throughout. The return pass remains the same, regardless of which stitch you are working.

This pattern is worked back and forth in rows using the Tunisian crossed stitch (tcs). Always skip the very first vertical loop. To give your edge more stability, insert your hook into the ''V'' at the end of the row (in the front and back loop)instead of just the vertical loop.

If your work curls too much, try using a larger hook and make sure to life the loops up with your hook. Blocking will help, but as there is no edging, you really want to limit the curling.

Though a gauge/tension is given, it isn't essential for this project, but please bear in mind if your gauge/tension differs then you nay get fewer or more repeats - it may also affect the final size of your shawl.

Just carry on and finish up the yarn, making sure to leave enough for the last 2 rows.

Made using a 5mm Tunisian crochet hook with a 60cm cable.

The colour used in the image is: 472 Sugar Sizzle
